My name is Yoann Degioanni and I have been teaching music for the past five years since graduating from ECU with a Diploma in Secondary Education, specialising in classroom teaching. However, I have been teaching since I was 16, having taught as a swimming teacher for over a decade, as well as gaining experience as an education assistant.
I have a great passion for helping students individually and in group settings to achieve their own, personal goals. Whether it is to just ‘have a go’ or to become proficient at music, or simply to jam and experience something musical, I believe I can guide students through along any step of their musical journey.
I have a classical music degree from the Sydney Conservatorium of Music, have performed around the world and extensively throughout Australia and Western Australia. I have performed at the Sydney Opera House and toured in the US and Asia. I have also performed in jazz ensembles as a lounge jazz piano player and singer, as well as in my own original band, and have had my songs played on the radio.
The most important thing I have learned from all of these amazing experiences is the value of music in our society and, no matter at what level, how important it is to engage in an artistic pursuit whether as a hobby or something more. So, for me, my goal is to help every student understand the language and wide context of music and have fun playing piano along the way.
