My name is Sophie Costello and I am a recent Edith Cowan University graduate, having completed a four-year Bachelor of Education (Primary) degree with a specialisation in Music. The music specialisation compliments my guitar teaching by providing significant knowledge of teaching music to children years K to 6, with an emphasis on the Kodaly approach. Combined with professional experience as a special needs Education Assistant, I have broad and comprehensive knowledge of helping to guide students of diverse backgrounds and individual teaching needs.
I am enthusiastic and innovative with my lesson approach, engaging students in a fun environment with individual goals and needs in mind. I aim to impart a love of music and guitar into all my students’ lives.
I also love creating hands-on, engaging lessons where students can practise new and learned skills in a practical way. I place an emphasis on reading standard music notation to best equip students with the autonomy to apply their skills across different musical mediums, such as playing other instruments, creating and collaborating with other musicians.
