My name is Kim Edwards and I am Perth born and bred (descending from Swan River Pioneers), married to a guitarist, with two teenage boys and a step-son. I began playing piano as a child, with music deeply rooted in my family for generations, which is now passed onto my own children who are both astounding musicians in their own right.
I am a qualified high school Music Specialist but after spending some time in the classroom, I chose piano teaching as my profession so I could focus more on individual needs of each student. It is also the most rewarding job I have ever done. My current enrolments have reached over 50 I have over 95% retention rate. I really enjoy getting to know each and every student and their families, working together towards students' personal goals, with practice routines that can fit into individual schedules and lifestyles. I strive to help students develop their "seeing ear" and "hearing eye" and listen beyond the melody. I aim to develop an appreciation of music in all genres and styles.
I prepare students for AMEB examinations and am also an accredited member of the WA Music Teachers Association. As well as my home studio, I am currently employed as a Piano Tutor and relief teacher at John Wollaston Anglican Community School and Piano Tutor at Swan Christian College.
